Professor ‘Okusitino Mahina on the cultural impact of the life of Sir Sofele Kakala
Sir Sofele compose his music by listen to the wind, sound of the wave at sea, when the rain fall on the tin roof and running through it and hit the ground thats 3 different sound, and he see someone sad he compose according to their emotion sad, happy, over joyed, he compose about the law that everybody equal if we all keep the law and the law apply the same to us all.
Sir Sofele Kakala create these worship song by taking the Polynesian rhythms and inserting them into it and our feel the truth of worship because we are singing and worshiping God like Polynesian and we feel we are part of the mass.
Sir Sofele's composition were way different because he brought two different time signature together in the same song.
Sir Sofele Kakala manage to reconcile in a harmonize way although its was a challenge at the beginning but slowly our people understand that we are worshiping God as Tonga.
We need more Sir Sofele Kakala around to be able to carry the flag that he himself has run for us to use our culture in all area of our lives especially use our Polynesian rhythm and dance to honor and worshipping God.
